(Nb, I am more interested in people who have been in this situation to share their story and how they resolved it! )
HERES MY SITUATION.. I tried to pause my account 2 months ago on adsense, and it DIDN'T work. I tried contacting google and they didn't reply. Now about 2 months later I receive my credit card statement(connected to adwords) and seen that Google has debited $900, $900 worth in adword clicks.....
But this was due to the fact that I couldn't Pause my campaign, and didn't get a reply when i contacted google. I didnt even use the pay per clicks which totaled $900, so have wasted $900 on my credit card, which I beleive is unfair.
HAS ANYBODY ELSE A SITUATION where Google HAVE REFUNDED your money back to you...? If so explain it in detail, and how you went about getting them to refund you? (which obviously involves contacting the billing department)

THAT IS of being billed loads, and GOT that money refunded back to their credit card by contacting google?

(and please don't say just accept it, and let them have your $900, because i want it back, and am already struggling with financial issues,,,,, so need the $900 back)

Get back in detail people, Especially those who have been in a similar situation to above....
This must be a rare occurence. It is certainly not my experience. If the Campaingn was not pausing, did you try to cancel/Delete the campaign? Did you mail G support more than once or did you do it once and forget about it. Constant follow up from your end, would certainly have gotten some result.
Something just does not sound right.
Did you get $900 worth of business?
Did you change your email address and forget to tell Google?
Do you use a webmail service that often treats gmail as spam (eg hotmail); then check your spam folders.
It really is an amazing coincidence that the 'pause' failed AND email communication broke down at exactly the same time, isn't it?
If you kept copies of your outgoing mail (as I'm sure you did), you may have a case ... check them now, and be sure you posted to the right address.
A few months ago I had a problem with the country selector. I edited the countries I wanted to include and clicked continue. However there was a bug in the system and if you didn't then click 'save' on the main edit page, ALL COUNTRIES would then be included for your campaign. (I had only selected 3).
This obviously sent my account into overdrive and it wasn't until a few days later that I noticed and figured out where all the traffic was coming from.
I contacted Google and a rep there eventually calculated my average daily spend (pre mess-up) and then figured out how much I had spent over this average each day that the country filter was missing. (very scientific, no?)
I ended up being offered $1600 in credit to my account although it did take many weeks of emails asking "uhhh... is the credit going to go through some day?". But in the end I was a happy customer.
I guess a mistake like this could benefit some webmasters if they do get a credit, but my site can only make money from english speaking countries, so all the extra traffic was useless for me.
Yet another troll under the bridge? ;)
