Why is the AdWords interface so slow?

Seems like the website speed when logged into AdWords is getting slower lately - it's never been fast, but lately it seems even slower.

You are a billion dollar company correct? How about speeding things up a bit.

beats most other similar interfaces and I must say has come leaps and bounds over the last 2 years.

I think it's slow. Not nearly as horrific as the Yahoo/Overture xface, but slow enough. Plus I keep getting error messages that my most recent changes weren't processed, or an error occurred and Google has been notified so don't hit the back button or else smoke and fire and jello will come out of my computer.

That's why I'm trying to get up to speed on this AdWords Editor.

(And I have a cablemodem backed up with dsl here, so it's not a slow connection on MY end)

Yahoo, literally, hasn't changed their interface since the GoTo.com days... MSN's isn't bad for a first crack, but it too has major issues...

For the past number of years, Google has changed theirs almost weekly based primarily on Advertiser feedback! The interface, IMHO, is a remarkable accomplishment and I believe Google should be very proud of it.

poster_boy I'm not talking about the UI of AdWords - I'm talking about sheer website speed. When you click on campaigns and click down to the keyword level, make max bid updates, etc. I'd say it's no faster, and might even be slower than it was 3 years ago. That's my point.

The UI seems fine to me.

Are you sure that there isn't something else going on for you like poor or lossy IP routing, or being connected to a distant AW server?

I have *terrible* IP connectivity over WiFi at home, but G/AW/AS pages are for me some of the more reliable and fast to load most of the time, at least until G's DNS servers steer me to G/AS/AW servers in Europe, which perversely give me worse behaviour (in London) than their servers in the US.

My internet connection speed has been the same for the last 3 years - usually it is slower in 2006 than in 2003-2004...that is my point.

It's always been slow, though I must admit that for the last couple of weeks it's been faster. Not fast-fast, but acceptable faster.

To be honest, I'm tempted to blame my crummy firewall.

I noticed this would happen when I would use multiple tabs to make changes and would submit 2 or more changes in quick succession.

When I speak of the UI, I speak of the speed of the UI. IMHO, it's not only faster than it was 2 years ago, but substantially faster. Not only UI navigation, but the reporting, as well.

I turned on to test the positional preference feature that has caused a huge slow down in the Google interface.
