I was using AdWords while I was waiting for my site to be indexed by google and now I am #4 under one of my keywords that I am also listed in for AdWords. (WOO HOO on the #4) ;)

Anyway, I just noticed this today and I am not sure if there is something in the referer string that indicates whether a hit is from AdWords or the search listing.

Thanks for any help.

If you make the adwords URL with an etension like [yoursite.com?adwords,...] adwords hits will go to that url though the result is the same. Then just set up your log program to identify those hits as from adwords and maybe even count them separately. i think ive got this right, havent done it for a while. Google has info in their adwords FAQ about how to do it, or someone here im sure will tell us if im wrong I'm sure.

thanks, I should have thought of that.

I just wasn't sure if there was something in the address that specified adwords or not, but I guess the referring page would be the same for both anyway.

This site management stuff is overwhelming, I'm going to have to go to the shallow end for a few minutes. ;o)

If you find that let me know please. :)

We use oursite.com?s=g keeps it simple.
I found a couple SE's that were displaying our AdWords URL
when we used the specific Keyword in the tag. Not sure how that
happened, but simplifying it helped.
