ok so i start a campaign im told by google your ad goes live immediately.. then if you read the fine print you will find out that they have an ad process and if your type of ad is flagged you go into a queue..

so.. you think your ad is running then 6 days later when you have had no impressions or clicks.. and you email they say.. OH yeah.. its in review.. we have now turned it on..

we cannot tell you more about our review process..

so silly!... so i waited 6 days for them to tell me that.. i wonder how much longer i would have had to wait if i hadnt emailed them.. from now on if i dont see impressions with 24hrs im emailing them.. on all new campaigns..

i wish there was an easier way to find out if your ad is in review queue instead of live.

I simply use the Ad Diagonistic tool to check if an ad is showing. If it is not showing for any reason, I immediately send them a mail asking them for Review and approval. Normally , I get a reply within a few hours and the ads starts showing. But you are right , this review is selective and some ads donot go into queue for review but are shown immediately. Some Keywords trigger a review I guess.

Yeah the review process 1) is taking much longer than it used to (Google admits to this) and 2) I've had a number of instances where new campaigns 'slipped through the cracks' and were never reviewed.

Bottom line - you should be proactively checking to see
if your ads go live. Do a search on Google for them 24 hours after adding them to your campaign. If they are not live the next day, call your account manager. If you do not have an account manager - I don't know what to tell you.

Well writing to them helps.
Ads dont go live right away for all geographies. In certain countries, they get manually approved first.
