I am about to start a new AdWords campaign in an extremely competitive business. But the portal in question already has an old account which hasn't been monitored at all for five years. The historical performance of keywords and ad groups is really bad. And at the moment the account is temporarily closed.
Would it hurt my chances of achieving good placement for the new ads due to the historical data of this exisiting account? Would it be better to close it completely and set up a new account?
According to Google, the Quality Score is calculated using various measurements, including historical performance of both keywords and ad groups. So, will my ads' quality score automatically be lower than it should due to bad performance of the old ads?
Would be interesting to hear your opinions, thanks in advance.
Since the only thing you save from retaining the old account is the time it takes to reenter your billing information, I'd start a-fresh.
