I am new to this field and as a doctor I am extremely naive about the whole subject. First of many questions

1. Do lots of clicks on adwords affect our listing on natural search?

2. Does the guy above me on adwords always pay more per click?

3. Is coming second on adwords a bad strategy?

Hi!

1) No.

2) No.

3) No.

Welcome to WW!

PS. One very important thing to keep in mind is that every patient is different, so those definite "No"s above are strong "No"s for most IMHO, but weak "No"s or even "Yes"es for some others.

1.I appreciate your brevity and medical advice-but surely it is not in google's interest for me to climb up the serps as eventually I may spend less on adwords.

2. Is ad content or site content important in determining position for adwords?

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, doctor gerlis.

I appreciate your brevity and medical advice-but surely it is not in Google's interest for me to climb up the serps as eventually I may spend less on adwords.

Actually, it is in Google's best interest for it to known and relied upon that there is no connection at all between AdWords and the unpaid search results.

DamonHD is quite correct - one does not effect the other.

Doctor Gerlis: Just in case you were unaware, AdWordsAdvisor is a REAL Google employee, so you may heed his/her postings as 100% factual.

Many times us webmasters/advertisers will opine about subjects and be anywhere from : "not even close" ... to "spot on" with our educated guesses about some of the finer points of Google's advertising program which are left to the imagination due to the competitive nature of online marketing.

However, we are also fortunate enough to receive clarification & guidance from AdWordsAdvisor, whenever the subject matter permits. When in doubt, use AdWordsAdvisor's postings as defacto rules...

Welcome to WW and good luck with your AdWords campaign!

Thanks chaps!

Actually here in England people are not as competitive on adwords as in the USA-so we have a few years before CPC goes up too high. Thus I am pleased with our return from adwords and feel we get good results. Some people here rely on SEO to get themselves high in the SERPS but there seem to be a lots of companies offering optimisation tips-some of whom disappear with your money. In the end, adwords is more straightforward.

Tata for now-or whatever we are supposed to say in England
