What do you guys think of actual the position of Google. I’m in Canada and their sales team seems very aggressive, they contact clients directly and some major SEM clients from several agencies decided to business directly with Google. The advantage of Google is that they don’t charge agency fees.

What can SEM companies do to keep their clients?

Let the idiots have their account "managed" by Google for a month and then ask them to review their performance against yours.

If you're any good as an SEM you'll be offering insight & profit-generating help that no 20yo in Google can regardless of how good they are.

Offer clients a free comparison and clearly illustrate the different outcomes - If there are any?

There's nothing worse than a company who thinks they know best & are actually worse then most SEMs - at SEM...

It's a simple contrast:

* Let Adwords do manage your spending to their benefit, for no agency fee.

* Let an agency manage your spending to your benefit, but with an agency fee.
