I've always used broad matches, is it worthwhile using the others as well ie. for every phrase have
1. blue widget
2. "blue widget"
3. [blue widget]

it's massive duplication but is that a better way to have all three listed so they perform better and cover all search types?

Thank you

I've found great value in splitting out match types.

Once you test this on a smaller segment of your campaign, you'll get a better idea of which keywords make sense to split out and which ones don't - helping to somewhat limit the massiveness.

great thanks. other than the adminstration challenge, is there any problem with having a massive adgroup? (similar question to my other post) thanks

Well, there are limits to the # of campaigns allowed in an account, # of ad groups allowed in a campaign, and # of keywords allowed in an ad group.

The limits depend on what "type" of account you have, so you'll need to develop a structure to accomodate for all the additions.
