Why can't I set up different ads for each keyword?

OK there is a high possibility that I am being stupid here but i thought I had better check it out.

Can you actually create a seperate description for each individual keyword in a campaign?

For example if I were to have the key phrases "one thousand", "two thousand" and "three thousand" in a campaign, would I be able to set up the text differently for each one? So that when "one thousand" is searched for it comes up with "Thousands - Find One Thousand here" but if someone searches for "two thousand" it comes up with "Thousands - Find Two Thousand here".

You could set this up with one campaign per phrase, or you could possibly use dynamic keywords [webmasterworld.com] (see message 10).

Aha that is a big help. Although presumably thats only for my title rather than the description itself.

You can use dynamic keyword insertion in the title, the description, or both.

It may seem restrictive compared to Yahoo - but Yahoo has launched a new campaign of truncating your copy (in order to copy Google), so I find Google to be much more flexible. Grouping by keyword character length helps.

No that's fine that's pretty much what I wanted, I wasn't aware that that was possible. So presumably then the generic description could go something like this:

"Find {keyword:thousands} in your area now"

and the title could read

"Best {keyword:thousands}"

If this is true with the title, presumably if somebody searched for a phrase longer than 20 characters it would revert back to the backup as "Best " has taken up five characters?

Cheers for all the quick help on this guys

No problem. And, if your keyword + neighboring copy exceeds 25 characters, you can move it to the description line, too.

Good luck.

Sorry you lost me there!

Can you explain a bit further?

Let's say your creative is structured like so, but your keyword is 23 characters long and you don't want to show the default.

Buy {Keyword:Default}
Great Description #1 copy
Great Description #2 copy

You can move all keywords that are > 22 characters to a group where you dynamically insert them into one of the description lines instead, like:

Great title
Buy {Keyword:Default}
Description #2 copy

You're not new at this game are you :D. Fantastic idea, all I need to do now is apply that to about 30,000 keywords. Don't ask.....

Be caraful with dynamic insertion, you need to keep adtext as targted as you can in order to get the best pricing,

as for 30,000 keywords we had something simaler, ouyr client wanted every town name in england with targted keywords, ad text and landing page for each place, we devloped an aip tool to aid us in this, but it still took us a few months!

Tell me about it!

We have a great application now set up whereby we can generate about 30-40 thousand relevant area related keywords for a particular subject in about half an hour and then get them up on Google/Overture in 20 mins (and then wait ten years for Overture to approve them all!).

It's taken about 10 days to set up so far but we are pretty much there now. Luckily the site is area orientated so we have to have a landing page for each area (ie "East Anglia"). Had I known about this little code in the first place, I could have saved a good couple of days!
