do i need to self assess VAT at my own rate?

Hi Guys,

Google Ireland dropped a cheque in the post to me today for the VAT i have been charged on my account.

Do I now need to self assess the VAT at the standard UK rate of 17.5% and pay up to our government.

I am thinking I do, but I am not VAT registered, and therefore don't file a VAT return. If I did file a return, I guess I would self assess the tax.

Or is this a speak to the tax office job?

I can not anser the question, but you will almost certainly find the answer somewhere here:

it might take you a bit of searching and reading through stuff though ....
