Google prohibits the word 'slang'

Any ideas why?

We used to run an Adwords campaign for our slang dictionary with the word 'slang' in the text (obviously!).

But now we find the word "slang" is "unacceptable" to Google. A check through their unacceptable adverts (those for miracle cures, prostitution &c.) reveals no clues as to why "slang" should be considered offsensive.

Anyone?

Just send Google an explanation or call them. Most of the time, they will work with you on situations where there is a real need for an exception to their rules...as in your case.

I see "armourial" (as in armourial bearings on a coat of arms, those designs you find in heraldry) is also banned!

You didn't specify the reason that Google gave for the prohibition.

They have apparently got a lot of trademark letters lately. Their policy is to automatically prohibit in any context, but then you can request an exemption.

I've seen some pretty silly ones lately. I've never had an exemption request turned down.

It's a pain in the neck. When putting up a new ad, I have to think of some other word to use in a substitute ad until I get the approval.

Most annoying ones lately:

wow
out

Never thought I'd use "wowie" in an ad!
