Serious Bug in Adwords

It might be costing you money

According to Google:

"the AdWords Discounter will charge you the lowest CPC you can be charged while still maintaining your position for each keyword."

I am finding this to be no longer true. I regularly drop my max cpc and remain in the #1 position and pay less per click than before.

How could this happen? Has anyone else experienced this?

This happens due to the new wording about minimum bids otherwise all adverts at the bottom would cost 1c.

It's stupid that it effects people in the way you describe (especially as many people assume it still works the old way). However, I've seen positive results from this too (3c clicks). We have to accept that things change, and not always for the best.

I don't think it is related to minimum bids. I'm talking about bids of $5+ where there are dozens of other ads below mine...

Is this happening on exact matched phrases? If you are broad or phrase matched then that is likely to be the cause.
