I'm in quite a competive niche, and when my ads start out at the beginning of the day, they'll be in low positions (lets say position 15).
As the day goes on, my ad positions will start to rise throughout the day until they come to say position 6 by the end of the day.
The next morning, my ads are way back down in position 15 and the same progression up the rankings occurs again as the day progresses.
Does anyone else see this, and if so, why does it occur? If my ads go up during the day, then that must mean someone else's ads go down.
Google's input on this is that it's part of their algo which determines that my ad doesn't perform well at night, so it lowers it. But then the question is whos ad does perform well at night when everyone is asleep? We are talking about exact matches here, and there's no reason why one of my competitors ads would perform better at night.
Also - I could be wrong - but I think that budget may have something to do with this as well. If others' budgets dry up during the day, then your ad would naturally move up.
This is what I don't understand. My ads climb during the day but must fall overnight, because when I check my stats in the morning i.e. when Google starts a new day, my ads are way down low.
So if what you're saying is correct, it means someone likes to show their ads at very late night/early morning when the audience is very few. And because we're talking exact match phrases here, I still can't grasp how someone elses ad in the exact same niche as mine would perform better at night.
