Adwords not responding to changes

I've deleted ads & paused campaigns: Google keeps running them anyway

I logged into my Adwords account about 25 minutes after Google came back after the 2 hours-turned-4 hours of maintenance tonight.

I deleted an ad -- that was an hour ago -- and it continues to run.

I paused the ad group altogether -- that was 30 minutes ago -- but the ads continue to run.

Then I paused the entire campaign -- 20 minutes ago -- still, all ads continue to run.

I've got two Adwords accounts, and it's the same with both of them. I have no control whatsoever over them right now, and for who knows how long, since it's the weekend.

Anyone else having the same problem? Anyone else filled with white-hot rage?

YES.

I paused a campaign yesterday, restarted today. No sign of ANY of the ads since the downtime 3 hrs ago.

I assume when we get to mid morning google time it will get fixed, we know google employees have their own accounts so Im sure at least one will be trying to do SOMETHING with their account!

Grrr...

Yeah. Some serious problems within Adwords. I increased my CPC for a few of my keywords by nearly 300% some 3 hrs ago, but still no change in Position.

It's now 10 hours since I made the changes, and still the ads run. Amazing.

Yeah, I'm not losing money either... yet. Google will have to refund a lot of money to a lot of people whenever they finally get this fixed; even the strictest interpretation of their terms and conditions doesn't allow them to take control of your ads and spend whatever they like for as long as they like on your credit card and not reimburse for it.

The advertisers I feel sorry for are the ones with very very little to spend, and who can't afford to be hijacked like this without suffering serious damage to whatever their advertising efforts are.
