It appears the longer a campaign is active, the cheaper it is to run as long as you have a nice CTR. I have a campaign running with the avg position of 5.5 and the avg CPC at only .06 for a pretty popular single keyword.
However, whenever I start a new campaign, my ads rarely get shown at that CPC until it runs awhile and builds up ranking with CTR.
So my question is, what is the best way to go?
a. Start off with a bang, remove all prices from ads (to increase CTR) and have a high CPC putting then slowly dropping back? (does that method even really work well?)
b. Start off with your target price and ad look then just optimize your ad until you hopefully build up enough rank to get more exposure + clicks.
If there are other ways, i'm all ears. Thanks!
I'm too new to know if starting off with a bang and then slowly pulling back really works or not. To me it would seem a bit risky if you don't have the money or gonads to do it. If you choose the wrong key words or put up a lowsy ad, then you could be a glutten for punishment.
However - I'm curious to know if this works for those veterans that know their keywords and ads well enough.
