How long to wait for Ad Group approval.

Is 24 hrs not sufficient?

I'm a 1 year user of Adwords but don't change my ads often.
Created a new Ad Group and been waiting 24 hrs. Do I need to contact the staff?

Main reason for asking is that I have read recently that Adwords is great for dynamic testing ad copy in conjuntion with keyword sets. i.e. for very popular searches one can frequently change (several times a day) the copy and/or keywords. Therefore if approval is slow, it circumvents this.

OR is it slow only for new Ad Groups but does not come into play for changes to ads within Ad Groups?

Lifted off the adwords front page:

"Ads go up immediately.

There's no 3 day posting delay. Once your account is created, your ads appear on Google within minutes, connecting new customers with your site immediately."

You sure the ad group is set up correctly, has a high enough daily charge limit, isn't paused or hasnt been declined?

The front page does say that, but it is not always true.

24 hours for a well established account is too long and you should double check everything about the ad. (campaign budget, CC info, etc.) If you can't find anything wrong, contact adwords.

That being said, I have seen delays of a few hours before and it has also been mentioned here that ads that receive something like 10,000 impressions w/o an editorial review will be paused until a review has occured. If you have a very high traffic words, this pausing can occur in a matter of hours.

I know that changing ads can send a red flag that causes the editors to look at your ads. It may very well be that if you are changing an ad several times a day, google is pausing it so that it can be editorially checked each time to ensure that you aren't trying to pull a bait and switch (i.e. Your original ad says one thing, they check it and you change it to something completely different hoping that it won't be checked again).

adwords customer service is really the only one who can answer this question though.

Yep checked everything about the account and the Ad Group in question before doing the first post. It is now 36 hours and still not being shown. I have emailed support.

My account is a very low volume one.

My experience is that if I change (edit) an ad within an Ad Group (oops that's tautological) then a new ad is created and shown immediately but is still reviewed some time later.

However I have little experience with NEW Ad Groups and am wondering what the normal state of play is.

Wow! Just got an email back from the Adwords team within 45 mins. of sending it.

To make the reply clearer I have to comment that I market in the casino software area, so I guess gambling is an 'uncomfortable' area. (No I am not an online casino, I wish to be so lucky, $$$$$$....)

"Thank you for your email. Because of the nature of your keywords, your ad may not show until it is approved by our editorial staff. This approval usually takes place within 72 hours. I have personally reviewed and approved your ad to run on Google. I have confirmed that your ad is now
active."

Hm! 72 hours max. (ish). I hope that's for new Ad Groups and NOT new Ads. I'm sure it is....?

I had a mild panic attack today. I set the campaign to start on 6/6 and wondered why the ads were not working - it was still 5/6 in the US... Occasional hazard for Down Underers.

I have a similar problem not beeign in the US, regardign datelines. Not for timed ads but to compare performance acros time periods. I so wish they would give more fine grained time stats.

I tend to sit there refreshign every few minutes and comparing numbers to decide if to add keyword modifiers to adjust the CTR to stay in the right range. But its very timeconsuming. I wish they gave me hourly control on the stats like they do now for dates.
