No problem with my credit card. Also, my daily budget is OK (actually higher than necessary) according to Google. What can I do to get the ads started again?

Stuff happens -- write to them. I've seen back office errors cause an account to vanish and the cause was not visible for us mere mortals. Only direct communication with the Adwords team brought the situation to light -- and it was fixed in a couple hours.

If you are new to adwords, you will find that after a certain number of impressions, adword stops your campaigns for reviews. This may take about 3 days. And if it has been over three days, you should contact them to switch it back on.
