2005 Google Xmas Swag

What should Adwords give to advertisers this year?

At breakfast this morning the kid made her first pitch about an xmas gift, so the santas at Google must now be thinking about what to send out in Decembers to all the good big and little advertising spenders.

What should they send this year?

My favorite from past years is the Google beach towel, which now graces my home office... because my office back door leads to the hot tub.

The radio was beautiful, but not especially useful. The scarf was nice, but I've got bunches of scarves.

Suggestions from the Google Store:

Café Set [googlestore.com...]

Lava Lamp [googlestore.com...]

Laptop Bag [googlestore.com...]

USB Drive [googlestore.com...]

My personal wish list:

* desk lamp
* bluetooth keyboard and mouse
* wireless headset (for computer or phone)

How about a 30 second shopping spree in the store (wonder how fast I can click on the mini [googlestore.com]; although that café set does look nice.

I think last year the clock was kinda nice as it's not in the store- sort of a limited edition item. I'm sure the team over there will come up with some interesting ideas.

How about a user interface that doesn't bomb out every 5th procedure and lose all your changes?

How about some fri#%ing keywords for less than a dollar each!

By the way, I had no idea G sends X-mas presents to advertisers. That's good stuff man...

I've only had cards, except for a cool Google Beach towel that came some time other than Christmas.

I've never received a gift from Google and I'll spend over $50,000 this year.

My client got the beach towel, not me. :-(

I don't buy enough ads for my own stuff to get one, I guess.

We spent nearly one million bucks with them this year and we got diddly squat!

You big spenders that didn't get anything probably have a receptionist sporting some sweet Google-gear when not at the office.

I need another Google yo-yo. Mine broke on the plane ride home from SES.

Posterboy,

"I spend a half million a month..."

Eh...As in 6 million a year?
Is that your own money, or the money of your customers?

Anyways, what a funny world.
My Adwords spendings for yesterday were exactly...
... 1 dollar!

By the way, it gave me 2 bucks revenue!

Last year, we got the Google Clock. It's nifty and all, but this year I'm expecting something a little bigger. Our daily spend has increased from a couple hundred dollars a day to several thousand. Hell, I'd like a GoogleCar for what we're spending. :)

"but, i'll take Google's cold shoulder over Yahoo's gawd awful system any day... "

Amen to that. After the way Yahoo! has treated us this year, I wouldn't be surprised if they sent someone to give us a Merry X-Mas kick in the shorts.

Google may choose to give gifts this Christmas. Or not. If they do give gifts it's entirely up to them whom they give them to and whom they leave out.

The expectations being voiced in this thread are not in the best of taste. The extent of your ad spend does not decide your entitlement to a gift. Or its cost. What's next? That last year's clock costed only $5.67 and that you're worth at least $11.45?

I have one question for all the posters here: What present did you guys buy Google last year?

"Google may choose to give gifts this Christmas. Or not. If they do give gifts it's entirely up to them whom they give them to and whom they leave out."

OK, then it is entirely up to us whether we like their gifts or not. And we are free to make statements about that.

Just for the record: some of us might state that their present to Google Adwords is the exuberant amount of money they send to Adwords. Not only in december but every month.

"their present to Google Adwords is the exuberant amount of money they send to Adwords"

Is the money especially happy (exuberant) because its being sent to Google?

Or is it just a lot of money (exorbitant):)

I give G $900 per day in one way or another.

How about a 10 day vacation in some warm place other than google hell, where my site has been for 9 months.

Thanks for the English lesson;-)
Thought all I could learn here was about Adwords...

With our level of spending over the year I'd at least anticipate a Google paper clip...

I haven't seen any expectations. I have been seeing people have a good time.

Humble, I like you guys but you can bet - if the $6MM/year was *my money* I wouldn't be hanging out here with ya. :)

Hmmm. Let me check that calendar again....

OCTOBER 17TH! What?!

OK, but seriously now, I know full well that it is never too early to start thinking about swag.

I'll pass your thoughts along to the Official Google Holiday Swag Brainstorming Team, who may be slightly disappointed that no one here has even mentioned the must-have gift we had been considering: The Google Global Moose Identification Kit, with highly detailed profile drawings of every known type of moose in the world, and a 15 second digital recording of their call (plus bonus Moose Ring Tones).

Well, so much for that idea...

I've spent $50,000+ in the last couple of years on AdWords and never gotten so much as a lump of coal from their various swagdumps.

I'm hoping maybe I rate a Google Eggtimer this year.
