Raising cost during campaign?

I had two small campaigns running for separate issues. I haven’t paid much attention to it lately. When I just checked a lot of the keywords that I started and were active at 10-20 cents are not inactive and they want 1-5 dollars a min. Is this normal or what?

It happens when your adverts are not performing well enough. It also goes the other way (we have ads that run at a 1c bid :)

If they are still getting some impressions you could try to improve the CTR by tweaking the ad copy.

The reasons are difficult to pinpoint without specifics, I'd guess that there are many competitors and they are making more cash for G than your adverts did. Alternatively, if there are only a few competitors it could be that G thinks the ad is not relevant (it guesses this by the fact that you have a high position but no-one is clicking).
