GoClick

I wish Google would do something EASY like this.

I noticed something that the GoClick PPC program does that I'd like to see Google do. They have a show bid tool that ACTUALLY SHOWS bids and ranking for a particular keyword. There is NOTHING HIDDEN and NOTHING to guess about.

Mesothelioma which is supposed to be the highest priced keyword that there is was only $0.32.

I wouldn't think that they have much traffic though. You do get what you pay for.

Google will never do that, because they are evil now.

Also worth NOTHING. I tried them a month ago, got a lot of clicks and 0 conversions.

Quoth the extraterrestial mindreader:

That's why the bids only go up to $0.32 on mesothelioma.

Yea, I know that they probably aren't a good place to advertize. I'm just frustrated by the $5.00 keyword I want to use on Google. There are 3 ads on the search page. Why can't I have the fourth spot for 0.01?

Maximum Cost-Per-Click

You choose the maximum cost-per-click (CPC) you are willing to pay. Our Discounter automatically reduces this amount so that the actual CPC you are charged is just one cent more than the minimum necessary to keep your position on the page.

[adwords.google.com...]

I haven't actually turned on the campaign yet. Google MIGHT not charge me the $5.00 asking price for the word. I guess I'll have to wait and find out when I get everything else ready to start putting up ads.

Problem is the discounter applies to the MAX cpc....not the MIN cpc to activate your keyword, its a completely different part of the system. So if you have a keyword with min cpc of $5 the discounter will apply as normal above $5, but below that your ad simply wont display.

Maybe because you will then decrease the value for the people willing to pay more.

[Maybe because you will then decrease the value for the people willing to pay more.]

How would my paying 0.01 for a keyword decrease the value of someone's ad who paid $10.00 for the top spot on a page that doesn't have any competition? There are only a couple ads on the page. If the other advertiser feels the need to pay a lot for the top spot then I say LET HIM HAVE IT. I'll put the SMART MONEY into being on the same page, but only a few spots lower. Let him throw his money away. I'm in this to make money.

By the way, I'm only using the same keyword as the other advertisers. I'm not in direct competition with them. They are promoting different things that are connected to a common thing.

Alien, I think what Figment means is that if there are 3 advertisers, and google allowes the last guy to get in for 1 cent, then the guy above him will only have to pay 1 cent to stay above him, and the guy above that 1 cent above (not counting G's imaginary quality score). So then the top ad in the list will only be paying 3 cents to hold the top spot. I don't think G would want that. In fact, if that was the way things worked, then all the ads min cpc will max out at the number of ads displayed. ie: 7 ads, top spot for 7 cents. I guess this is one reason for G even having a min cpc.
If everyone had to only pay one cent more than the guy below them, and the last guy is bidding 1 cent, then there would be no need for a quality score and also no need for relevence.

i think... i could be wrong... i usually am. :-)

Correction:
...then the guy above him will only have to pay 1 cent MORE to stay above him,...

Sorry. Didn't see the typo until after edit expired.
