am just curious to know what you guys pay, related to how big your company is. I've just set up and it's recommending £70 which seems very high. (Will this be due to popular keywords?)
jazzle, essentially, the daily budget that the AdWords system suggests to you is a budget that would be sufficient for your ad to show most of the time, given your keyword list. So, yes, suggested daily budget is highly related to your keyword list.
If the budget seems too high, then you may want to consider:
* minimizing your keyword list to include only those keywords which are most important to you
* avoiding really 'obvious' keywords, which tend to be more competitive (because more people are likely to be using them)
* avoiding very general keywords, and especially single-word keywords
* making sure that your ads and keywords are highly targeted to each other. This can lower your Cost Per Click (CPC), which will give you more clicks for a given budget.
At the bottom line, I'd never suggest setting your daily budget higher than you feel comfortable paying, as you learn the ropes with AdWords.
As you gain more experience, it is also very wise to carefully track your results, to make sure that you are making a profit. And if you are making a profit, then your daily budget becomes less of a concern.
By this I mean that if you have fine-tuned your account so that you are making lots more money than you spend, then spending more is also likely to make you more.

When you say that, do you mean using the keyword in the ad title or ad text? Just wondering.

Ahem, that would explain my sore feet and the curious strap-marks on my arms.
Do I remember absinthe being brought out? No, must have been a nightmare.
But Ann sure plays mean guitar, even if she does look like Tony Blair after a few pints, or maybe I was wearing someone else's glasses.
So much for a quite night in with WW...

I spend about 100 dollars a day, and in principle would spend 100,000 a day if that brought me traffic which was profitable. For that reason I always go very high on the daily budget - if its worth advertising then its worth advertising as much as possible.
However, I have a product that is not really limited in availability, or it might be different.
Is it worth it - thats another question!
