why bother with a site when a forum is easier to set up?

My friend's mom was just diagnosed with kidney cancer. I told my friend I'd try to find her some good resources on the web, so she didn't waste time on the shark cartilidge and other miracle cures.

I found good info on the US NIH and Web MD.

Then I thought, relevant message boards and forums might be a comfort so I went about exploring those.

Well the SERPs report many high rated forums that consist of several dozen topic pages each, most with just one post, usually a book quotation by the admin. They seem to optimize for the word "cure".

Of course, they're loaded with paid ads units. To be fair, I saw as many Overture as AdSense. Wonder if AdSense considers them Search or Content. Sickening.

I just wrote AdSense and asked if I could place AdSense on a fairly tame site about sexual attraction and was pointed to their policy on "pornographic, adult, or mature content".

I think a little prioritizing is on order here.

In the meantime, we're praying.
