I noticed a few of my ads were disabled because apparently I was using brand names in them. Brands names are actually very popular search terms in this field (jewelry) and in some instances I can't even tell if it's brand name or not. Do I have to check and see if "Widget Jewelry" is a brand name or not? any advice?
Anat, it is difficult to answer your question, as I am not entirely clear what your situation is. It is probably best to write in from your account, and ask AdWords support your questions in as specific a way as possible.
You mentioned that your ads were disabled, and this is where I get confused - because ads do not get disabled. Rather, it is keywords that get disabled, and this happens because they have performed poorly. It is not a matter of policy at all. It is a matter of performance - and sometimes this can be fixed by writing better or more targeted ads.
On the other hand, ads can be disapproved - and this happens because they have not met a policy or guideline.
If you have in fact had ads disapproved for using trademarked terms in the ad copy, then your best recourse is to contact the trademark owner, and ask that they make an exception in your case. If the agree to do this, they would then need to contact AdWords to let us know that you are an exception to the trademark limitations that they have set with AdWords.
I hope this helps somewhat - but as I mentioned, your best answer will come from AdWords support.
