I created an adwords campaign using 5 cents keywords very on topic which are not being use by the other folks in ou r industry. Adsense clicks are being generated from this traffic but I have the feeling that this clicks get pay a lot less. So I'm asuming Google actually knows the traffic is originating from adwords and not from serps. Is Adwords leaving a cookie which is then readed by Adsense?

One very interesting theory I heard about AdSense at the WebmasterWorld conference was "Does Google check the page referrer when the AdSense script is loaded to determine the discount rate".

At the engineers conference:
the first one stared blankly at us.
the second one thought it was an interesting idea.
the third said they track the referrer, but aren't using the data yet.

Probably. Evidence? Assign a channel to a single page with little but some organic traffic and measure it, then a week later promote the same page with Adwords heavily so that you get a lot more clicks. Now compare the EPCs of the 2 timeframes.

Is the EPC affected also by the keywords you buy? Probably, which makes the whole things more difficult to assess
