Better control of content advertising

... by implementing a bidding strategy?

I have mirrored my ad group to seperate content from the search network. However, I find that by bidding higher on the content network which converts better, I am also encouraging G's search clicks.

Has anyone tried a high bid for an ad group, yet minimum 5 cent bids for all the kws in the same ad group? This way I am thinking that you can avoid G search clicks while encouraging content network clicks.

Very interesting thought.

Technically, I don't think it'll work because AdSense actually works on the keyword level for quite a few things. It really only works on the ad group level to determine targeting (which is why your thought of bidding at the ad group level would matter).

I think you should try a bit of experimenting and let us know your results ;)

I think I remember reading on Adwords Help, or maybe a support request that for Content Clicks, Adwords examines the Adgroup and finds the closet match keyword to the theme of the website the click came from. The CPC of this keyword is then applied to the click.

So by setting all keywords to 5 cents, I think you will harm your content rankings.

However, I've never done it myself. Might be worth a try.

I will run a small test and will let you know the results.

Update .... It appears that bidding low on kws in an ad group and high at the adgroup level does not produced the results I was expecting in my opening post.
