Sponsored Links at Top of Page versus Right Hand Side

Hi,

I'm interested in getting an ADWORDS sponsored link at the top of the page versus the right hand side.

I was always under the assumption that it was the first and second highest PPC results for the search but this particular keyword string search has ads on the left but zero on the top.

Also, due to trademark issues ADWORDS denied the title of my text, however, I see these terms in searches of different categories (located at the top of page)

Any thoughts would be great!

Thanks

Being the #1 or #2 ad in a search is not enough to get you on the top of the page. Before your ad can appear there it needs to be approved by a Google reviewer. (I assume this is the same review that enables your ad for the partner sites. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.) It also has to gather a "better than average" CTR before it goes to the top.

There are certain situations where you can use a trademark you don't own in an ad. One is if you get permission from the trademark owner, such as if you are selling the manufacturer's product. Another case is if you are claiming a verified statement about a product, such as if you are selling a competing product.

We had an ad that said: "(our product) costs less that (their product), but works better." The ad was disapproved because we didn't have supporting evidence. So I wrote a new landing page that has a link to the competitor's online store, in order to prove that our's costs less, and a link to an online consumer magazine that did a review of our and their products. It was then approved.
