New AdWords layout being tested on google.com

It seems my Google GUID has just been selected for a test of a new AdWords layout on Google.com.

The new layout makes it somewhat less obvious that the top spot(s) are sponsored links, because instead of spanning the whole width across the top, the "Premium" AdWord positions are now the same width and inline with natural results, with the rest of the AdWords starting from the very top of the page, just as they would if there were no AdWords in the Premium positions.

Apologies if i'm being slow, but i've not seen it mentioned anywhere yet.

Nice post though.

I've seen this, and I think the new layout looks horrible, especially for the ads in #s 3 and 4 - I don't think to look for adverts there. It looks like the page isn't being rendered properly. I hope they don't stick with it.

Sweezely, I've just pasted your comment into the Advertiser Feedback Report that'll go out later this evening. ;)

You mean Google aren't just going to introduce this new feature blindly like they usually do? Sacre bleu! ;)

Heheh, Sweezely - that's why we call it testing. ;) And feedback is valued, I can assure you. In fact I have several weekly meetings in which we talk about the 'the word on the street'.

I've seen similar testing and have taken a screenshot if anyone wants to see.

How can I make it available to readers without posting a URL - what's the rule? I have posted an article on my blog about it with the screenshot.

It seems that Google is bringing back the Interest Bar, and looking at changing the colour to Pink?
