Just saw the new/experimental ad layout on a small screen.

Left column was completely filled with a blue background, right column with ads. Only after scrolling down till below the ads on the righ did the "top" ads show up and the natural results below that. "Best" of all: clicking the blue background led to the site of the first advertiser.

Kinda sounds like it was a display problem. Maybe it was just messed up on the small screen?

Hmmmm.

HitProf, any chance of getting some details? Stuff like screen size, resolution, browser, browser version, even Operating System?

It'd be much appreciated, if you have the time. ;)

AWA,

I already emailed support and just got reply it's been "escalated" to the tech team. Screenshot was included with email.

mjvol: yes, it looks like a small screen display problem, probably due to fixed width of the top ads.

sorry awa, i forgot:

opera browser 6, w2k, multiple progs/windows open --> small window size, resolution 1024*768, font size 125% ("large").

I've seen it several times since but I can't reproduce the small new ad layout now in IE to test.

Tips:
- try half width window size.
- even if it only fails in Opera, at least make the "Sponsored links" unclickable or link to Google and not advertiser
