the suggested keywords are all broadmatched - interesting twist. looks like a good way to create more ad inventory.
is everyone seeing this, or is my account just part of beta test?
now, you have to type every line in every time (or employ the use of a copy/paste utility).
it would be great if they could just include a little button that would populate the fields with the text from the first ad in the adgroup.

AdWords, you are looking closely at the competition, right?
anyone notice the new interface for adding new ads? the functionality seems to be there but it is organized a little differently.
A sharp eye you have there, elsewhen. Sometimes I actually look at my watch when we release something new, and count the hours (or minutes!) until someone on WebmasterWorld notices. ;)
one thing i really dislike about the new interface is that when you create a new ad in an existing adgroup, the creative is blank... in the old system, it was prepopulated with the 1st ad in the adgroup. this allowed you to focuse on making the necessary changes....
Very good feedback, and thanks. This is very much on our radar, and it's a function that will return in the near future. To set appropriate expectations, though, I'd say we're measuring in days here, rather than hours.
I hope you'll continue to leave your feedback, and I'll happily pass it on the right folks. Thanks!

My first impression is that it's now more time consuming.
One confusing part: When you're adding a new Ad Group, the top of each page says "New Campaign Set-up". I canceled out two or three times, thinking "Did I click "New Campaign" instead of "New Ad Group"?
Also, it keeps asking if I want to view both secure and nonsecure items.
Seems to take a little longer and I guess I preferred the old way. But adjusting to change is a necessary part of life I suppose.
if i enter "widget" into the keyword suggesting tool, i am given tons of options, so i go through and check the relavent ones, and then click on the "add selected keywords" button. the keywords i ticked are added, but the orignial word "widget" is not, and it does not appear in the list of suggestions either.
either it should automatically be added to the list, or it should be the first option so that i can tick it and populate the list with it.
also, there are two groups of suggestions, "similar keywords" and "more specific keywords"... to populate the list on the left, i have to hit BOTH "add selected keywords" buttons in order to add ALL the keywords - its a little awkward, and i bet lots of new users miss this, and will not notice that some of the keywords they ticked were NOT processed.
If there is going to be a change in this, please have the new ad populated with the entries from the last ad created in the group, not the first. Its way more common to modify what you just did, then to modify something you did originally. Plus if you recycle a campaign, the first ad is often something completely useless.
Regards,
Also, does anyone know if there is a way to get my computer to stop asking about secure/non secure items on each page in the new "create ad group" interface?

MovingOnUp, and Bbr59a - That can be pretty annoying! We've been trying to reproduce this since seeing your posts, but with no success. My guess is that it's something unique to your security settings, but not being particularly technical, I may well be mistaken.
Although I don't believe it will solve the issue, making google.com a trusted site may be worth trying.
Any chance you could write in from within your account with a subject line of "ATTENTION: ADWORDS ADVISOR per request" and provide a few details?
This info would be especially helpful:
* What's your browser, and version number?
* What are your security settings? - are they custom?
* If settings are custom, how so?
* Are you behind a proxy?
Many thanks!

There's a lot of times where I won't bid on a particular term because it is too high volume, and having all the terms I selected listed gave me an immediate idea which terms were the most popular and expensive - without it I feel like I am bidding blindly, and cancelled the campaign.
What happened to the Traffic Estimator that told you how much traffic to expect on each term
its still there... on the "Set a maximum cost-per-click (CPC)" page, which appears after you have entered your keywords and clicked "continue" there is a link called "View Traffic Estimator". After you click on that link, the traffic estimates appear on the same page with all of the information that was present on the old interface.
when i tested it, it appears to use the text from the first adgroup in the campaign. while i agree that using the most recent text might have been a better option, here is a quick hack:
just create a dummy adgroup when you are starting a new campaign, and pause it. the script seems to take the text from the first adgroup regardless if it is active or paused (i haven't tested it if the first adgroup is deleted). that way, you can create what ammounts to the default ad text that will be used for the prepopulation feature throughout that campaign.
if you want to change the text that is prepopulated, just make your desired alterations to the dummy adgroup - doing so wont change anything else because that adgroup will always remain in a paused state.
the keyword suggester makes suggestions that are already in my selected list. once something is in the list, why does the suggester suggest it?
for example, in the keyword list i will enter "blue widget" and "red widget", then i will copy and paste "blue widgets" into the suggester to get some more ideas. "red widgets" is one of the suggestions.
this is no big deal when there are just a few keywords that you are interested in, but when there are lots of terms you are targeting, it adds up to a pretty big waste of time.
sorry to keep posting, but i obviously spend a lot of time in front of the adwords interface, so small changes to the interface make a big difference to me...
You certainly qualify for the 'most feedback award' in this thread, elsewhen. But far from being a problem, it's much appreciated.
So have at it!
I'm just now including feedback from this thread (along with a link to the entire thing) in the Advertiser Feedback Report that I send out each Thursday evening. So, know that it'll be heard.
Thanks!

(P.S. It sounds as if you have lots of thoughts about how things might be improved, elsewhen, so maybe it's time for someone (hint) to start a new 'Wish List' thread...)
What I am really missing is the previous drill down function of the traffic estimator.
The traffic estimator has been added (again) on www.google.com/select/SetMaxCpc?wizardType=newCampaign which I did not see there yesterday.
But when doing a new campaing I liked the option to look at keywords with a high potential and to have the possibility to be shown additional words for that word within the traffic estimator. If the traffic estimator showed me 500 clicks for blue widget I could drill down to see what words might be more specific (buy blue widgets) or related to that word.
Maybe not related to the new interface but strange anyhow is the campaing report showing the average position. I just did a new campaing and the report is showing me an average position of 3 - 4 but when I look at the add it is No. 1 (above the natural search). Quite high CTR also shows me that the report displays the wrong position.
Also, it keeps asking if I want to view both secure and nonsecure items.
I am getting this error too on the interstitial pages with titles like "Please wait while we check your website URL and ad text".
My guess is that it's something to do with the image of Google balls sliding around, as the animated image doesn't show until I answer the secure/not secure dialogue box. However, the image does show if I select the 'no non-secure pages' option in the dialogue box, and I realise the image IS hosted on a secure server... bizarre.
Also, it keeps asking if I want to view both secure and nonsecure items.
The same for me.
My guess is that it's something to do with the image of Google balls sliding around
I thought the same, and I was looking for something like this:
[adwords.google.com...]
They call this image
[services.google.com...]
from that https page and it causes that I am asked if I want to view both secure and nonsecure items.
But I did not find the problematic element at AdWords interface, so I ended with exactly the same idea as you:
I realise the image IS hosted on a secure server... bizarre.
But I am sure the tech folks should search in this direct - some element, that is not hosted at secure area of the server.
Has anyone else noticed that for the destination URL now if you include http:// at the front of the URL your ad will not open the destination page?
In the old system, I know there was a scroll box where you could select http or https and then after that stick in your destiantion URL. But even if you stuck in your URL as http://www.example.com the system was smart enough to remove the http://
In the new system if you do not put in your destination URL without http:// the ad will not work.
I make many many ads that point to many many different pages and I hope Google can fix this - seems easy enough to fix. I like to cut and paste straight from the address bar, which includes the http://

[edit reason] Please use example.com for sample links. [/edit]
But then they changed it back to the old way, of having the wording of a new Ad Group to match that of the FIRST ad. The first ad you ever create goes through many mutations, rendering this format useless.
Please change it back!
after entering a rather large keyword list and getting
"Some of your keywords were not accepted for the following reason:"
It would be nice if the text box was wider than 24 characters since anything over 3 words is making me do a lot of horizontal scrolling...which is really just making me copy it into a .txt doc to look it over.
also it would be very nice to show which keywords are creating the problem and either just show it or let the user remove those via checkbox much like when you need to request an exception.
It'll probably only take a day or two more for me to get used to it, but my question is:
How hard would it be for Adwords to email all their customers and say:
"Hey all, we have changed the interface, here are the changes..."
On the first page of ad creation, "Create another Ad Group", where you enter the name you want for the Ad Group, the title of the page is:
Google AdWords: Identify Customers
go figure... I wouldn't expect an inappropriate page title in a new interface that is fully-tested and double-checked before release.
