I just started a new ad campaign last night that has keywords with very little competition. There's only about 2-3 ads per keyword.
Usually within a few minutes I can type in the keyword on google and see my ad, but now it's been about 20 hours and my ads aren't showing up, even though they're approved and there's no problem with the keywords.
One keyword in my ad group is a #*$!xx.com (the name of the merchant i'm promoting, with a .com after the name).
Could that be causing my ads to not show up? There's really no reason I can think that they wouldn't be appearing.
The only other idea I have is that using a ™ next to the company name of the merchant I'm promoting could be causing an issue?
Sometimes, another reason could be that your KW is considered "sensitive" - and there is no list provided by Google with all these cases.
But when you are an affiliate, the reason of "same displayed url" must always be on your list.
Btw, have you checked with the Ads Diagnostic Tool? This should provide some useful information.
Yep - it was the ad diagnostic tool that actually cured the problem.
I'm facing another set of circumstances with an ad campaign now though, the ad diagnostic tool says that none of the keywords i type in were chosen for my ad, when all of them have a status of "normal". It's like the ad isn't even seeing the keywords I've chosen for it. All of them were high volume terms that I'd have little competition on.
Something fishy's going on..
One of the situations (and a very probable one) is that the KWs are considered "sensitive". They are in fact not approved, but shown as normal. You won't even notice when they will begin to show.
You can try writing Support. This will speed things up a little.

Agreed on both points, mike_ppc. If I'd arrived just a bit earlier, I would have said just that, while also adding two seemingly silly points. Both do actually happen from time to time, and either will stop one's ads from showing:
* Has the daily budget for the campaign been set lower than the Max CPC for the Ad Group?
* Has the ad itself been inadvertently deleted?
