Well i kinda find it humorous that google has a section about how to "power post" keywords allowing what 750 keywords at a time to get added at once?

Well i tested this theory and addedk around 1k keywords in bout 2 minutes last night. as soon as i hit submit half of them went into "on hold" status and then with in 30 minutes 930 of them out of 996 went into "on hold" status.

This was a completly new account never been touched by an keyword before.

So lesson learned never post in bulk again.

Anyone else run into these problems too?

If the 'on hold' doesn't get you then the 'unmanageable size' will get you.

Spudstr, the issue is not that you power posted. Rather, it has to do with what you power posted.

In other words, if you had added these same keywords in the same places, but had done them one by one - the same thing would have occurred.

I'll come back in a bit with links to follow that will explain how keywords can go immediately to on on-hold or in-trial status.

This'll help you to understand what happened.

Back soon.

OK, back again with the links I wanted to post.

Reading these will give you a good overview of how (and when) keywords may enter a particular status:

When does a keyword enter in trial status?

What is the AdWords keyword status column?

AWA,

Thanks for the links, i was reading earlier on the google "predictor" system. I would like to make a formal complaint. Mainly towards keywords that have a handful o f listings. Why should we get punished thrown in "on hold" and then disabled for a word that only has 3 other ads? so what throw the .05 cent bid at the bottom. This truly boggles ones mind on why google would do this unless you guys figured out that the "risk" of having this .05 add and not getting any traffic isn't worth the .05

This has happened to words getting disabled that have had a ctr of 1.7% or even 2% they get thrown into disabled with in an hour.

there needs to be a way to allow our ads to show up even if theres no ads there!

Couple instances i've been the only keyword for a listing which gets couple thousand impressions a day. ctr slightly under 1% but its the ONLY AD and it gets disabled for what and why?

disabled for what and why?

The main reason is easy - because of mistakes that were made by others - the average CTR from other accounts is taken into consideration :-(

We are told: make an relevent ad. So you make something like [small iron round widget] - it is so targeted that it receives almost 0 imp and it goes on hold almost immedietely because... I wonder why...

Usually these troubles goes away several days after starting new campaing. But it is pain.

I went through it maybe three weeks ago - very targeted ads, maybe 90% of them went on hold in first day. but it is OK now.

I started another campaign this week, I used very BROAD terms (no exact matches, even no phrase matches, also many general one word "phrases") and you know what? Maybe 1% of them went on hold. I just understand nothing here...

these were all broad terms :-/ that went on hold right away. its proven they get impressions.. thousands and upon thousands! and yet still average postion of 1.1 on them.
