Im about to launch a site selling lower end widgets around £50 each, the two keywords im looking provide about 2500 clicks a day.

However, they are generic, like Widgets and widget, those two terms cover a whole spectrum of prices from £2 widgets up to luxury hand built ones costing tens of thousands.

All I need to break even on advertising costs are a sales conversion rate of 0.002% which should be a piece of cake.

So my point is does anyone here have any experience with conversions on generic keywords?

Or should I just suck it and see? A days avertising is only £100($190) not a lot to risk.

Your conversion may not be the problem (the way you describe it), but your CTR will.

In order to get click you need impressions first and chances are Google will disable your generic widgets even before you've entered them. So you need at least some more specific keywords as well to start with. Of course you can try the generic ones, but don't count on them, especially in a new account. Good luck!
