'On Hold' status and the Sandbox...

coincidence or correlation?

I'm seeing a large number of my high bid AdWords keywords (with which I have a strong and healthy history) being placed on hold. I have had, seen, or currently do have problems with what seems to be the sandboxing effect with each of these keywords. Anybody else seeing this?

I know i'm stating the obvious here but are you sure each keyword doesn't fall into one of the following categories:

- New keyword with poor historial CTR (based on the CTR of other advertisers using the same keyword)

- Old keyword with CTR < 0.5% on google search (not search partners / content)

Very good points ARRAN.

But there might be also another problem for new KW:

It might be flagged by their system because the KW require review and approval before it can run.

In this case the status of KW may oscilate between NORMAL and ON HOLD but it will receive zero impression until it is reviewed.

The problem is that there is no way to find out this in the adwords interface.

All keywords I've been using with adwords for over 6 months (6 of them over a year) with decent to good ctr...
