Turnaround time for content network ads?

Been waiting since Thursday for ads to show on content

I started a campaign on Thursday, and I believe that it will have much better results through the content network than through search, because of the number of sites that this ad should be a pretty targeted match for, based on the keywords. So I have been watching for the ads to start showing on content, but as of tonight, no such luck.

Yes, the checkbox for content is checked - I even double checked :) And then I triple checked, because I knew I would never live it down if that was the reason why it wasn't showing up on content ;)

The keywords are pretty niche, but I'd be shocked if AdSense decided they didn't match a single page out there running AdSense. I could handpick dozens of pages it would be perfectly targeted to and probably have a high CTR, to boot... and yes, that is something I would like to see advertisers be able to do someday, submit a list of publisher sites where we'd like our ads to be shown, or be given better instructions on how to do it ourselves :)

I know previous campaigns began running on content within a day or two, but now I'm getting anxious, especially since I want to see how it performs on content. Is this a normal turnaround these days for ads to show up on the content network?

Jenster,

I am pretty sure it is related to the number of impressions i.e if you have an advert on high traffic phrases, they will be prioritised over those only showing on low traffic phrases.

So yes this could be normal.

Based on my humble experiences, ads can take up to a week to be reviewed and approved before showing on Content. In the main though, two to three working days appears to be standard.

Guess I am just being impatient, I'll wait until Thursday before I start grumbling ;)

Jenstar,

We added content back on our main AdWords site on April 1 and impressions started showing up almost immediately.

It might not hurt to drop them an e-mail or phone call.

Whatever can you mean Jenstar?! ;) Just because you're the AdSense Guru around these parts...

Turnaround time can vary a lot depending on volume - and when the ads were submitted. Since ads are reviewed on a very limited basis over the weekends, ads submitted on Fridays (and perhaps even Thursdays if volume is high) may not be reviewed till late Monday or even Tuesday.

In cases in which you have a choice as to when you submit the ads, I recommend mid-week (Wednesdayish) as being the best time. It is sort of post-rush and pre-rush. ;)

It might not hurt to drop them an e-mail or phone call.

Not a bad idea. ;)

BTW, nice to see your name here, as always, Jenstar!

This is true, at least in my case. I summitted three ad-groups on weekend and they're all showing up in the content today (Tuesday).

I do my best ;)

Well, still nothing on content, so perhaps my keywords are too tight for content, rather than it being an approval issue. So I have fired off a support request, we'll see what the AdWords Team says :)

Well, I got a response in under 20 minutes (pretty darn good response time). Ironically, while reviewing the campaign for content, they disabled the whole thing... for a popup that the landing page doesn't even have. Hmmm...

it usually takes 1-2 days for my adsense campaigns to start appearing on competitor's sites (that's why I love it ;)

I wrote back to say there was no pop-up, it got re-approved, and my ads are now happily displaying on the content network :)

That is excellent news Jenstar! ;)

AWA (now breathing sigh of relief...Heheh.)

When my ads got disabled and I posted about it here, I must admit I had the image of AWA running around the AdWords support team asking "Who was helping someone named Jen who was asking about content ads and disabled her ads for a non-existant pop-up instead..." ;)

Ah, the things that amuse us :)

LOL! Here's a true story:

Jenstar, given that you are sort of the 'Queen of Content', I thought that it was hugely ironic that your ads were not showing there. So, when you were disapproved, I very briefly thought about running around, just as you've described (or maybe sending an email).

But then I thought, "How fair would that be?", and let things take their natural course, 100% without my input. I figuratively sat on my hands for awhile, and the urge to intervene passed. ;)

Anyway, thanks for making me (literally) laugh out loud - which has to be one of my favorite things to do.

"How fair would that be?",

Hey, AWA.

Please feel free to jump in any time to assist a WW member. We won't tell anyone.

Oh, I can just see those Blog headlines now, Tropical Island:

"NEW EVIDENCE! Google and AWA Playing Favorites!?"

Now everyone knows I do go through the same support channels as everyone else, and I actually prefer it because I get the same experience as everyone else and then I can speak up if I think they can improve something ;)

Besides, there is nothing I have entered on my Adwords or AdSense accounts that would link me to being Jenstar, so I get treated just like an ordinary publisher or advertiser... and judging from this last go-around with them, I am pretty confident there is no big flashy warning on my account saying "Caution! This is Jenstar's account!" :)

From the quick reaction of both Jenstar & AWA it looks like the humour of my comment was misinterpreted.

I would never expect AWA to provide any extra service over and above the great answers and the odd technical emergency situation that develops.

Keep up the good work both of you.

Nope, we definitely got the humor :) The quick reply was simply because we spend far too much time at WebmasterWorld ;)

Yeah, what she said!

Personally, I thought it was pretty funny - and certainly in the 'meant to be funny' column. ;)

There probably is now! They've got enough information from this thread to connect the dots if they want to.

I am sure they could figure out who I am if they really wanted to, after all I have been to the Googleplex [webmasterworld.com] ;) But I never write to support with "I am Jenstar from WebmasterWorld" nor would I ever pull that card either... and I am fairly certain they would be shocked if I ever did, because that just isn't my style ;)

I am quite content to go on my merry way having my accounts under my regular name with no formal connection to my "Jenstar" persona (none of my account URLs or email address would connect me in any way with being Jenstar). As AWA said, how fair would that be :)

AWA gets serious for thirty seconds...

I assure you, I don't want to connect the dots, nor do I know anyone who does.

I've mentioned several times in the past that is actually pretty important to me to not know what WebmasterWorld member belongs to what AdWords account. And this is still absolutely true.

So everyone may rest easy that I make no effort of any sort to know - and when I do find out in the course of working on 'special requests' from this Forum, I make a point of keeping no records. This ensures that I forget the associations really quickly - because I have a lot going on, combined with a bad memory for account numbers and email addresses!

As AWA said, how fair would that be :)

Exactly. Plus I want folks here to feel they can be blunt, and have no 'fear' of being identified.

S'truth!

AWA
