Ok, on my first campaign, running a day or two now, I have had > 4000 impressions, 32 clicks, zero sales.

My CPC is set between 5 and 20 cents. The items I am selling are popular.

I could use a little hint as to what is most useful for me to change here. Are these figures about normal, or well under-performing? THe CTR at the moment is 0.6%, but most of the clicks is on the more general keywords.

You may want to change what you are selling. Not everything is guaranteed to sell. I have had many campaigns with great CTR's and never a sale. I usually give a campaign a week or about 500 clicks. If no sales I drop it and find anotherone.

Lightpanther, two questions:

1. You have Content impressions? If yes, what is CTR separately for Content and Search?
2. What is your Avg Pos, especially for Search?

Hi,

In my experience I have found that changing the way the ad is worded can dramatically increase the CTR from the impressions.

Also have a think about where on the site the ad takes them. Changing the page on your site where they 'land' can make a lot of difference to the conversion rate.

It is a matter of trial and error. Try some searches around the keyword you are targetting and see what comes up for example.

One thing I have learnt is it is not always best to pay on the most obvious keywords. They often generate alot of clicks, and cost, but do not convert well. Drop the obvious and go for more specific.

ie do not use 'widgets' but go for something like 'uk blue widgets' The number of impressions will be lower but you are now exactly what the clicker is looking for . Therefore the CTR will be high and so should the conversion rate.

Good luck.

hi

Mike, I think I have content off. Average position for digital widgets is well down there..... 10 or greater!

Thank you for that. I will try to put that into practice.

The position is not so good. It is recommended (if possible) to be on the first page.
Since your position is noit that good, you should have keywords and text ads very targeted, to describe exactly what you are selling in the most "user-friendly" manner possible.
