Help with ad group syntax

Hi,

I'm setting up a new ad group for an upcoming campaign. I remember reading somewhere that this was a good syntax to use for my keywords:

[blue widget]
"blue widget"
blue widget

It seems redundant, is this the suggested way to setup an ad group for a specific phrase?

I would appreciate your help.

P.

Yes, usually that is the suggestion.
It means using all three keyword matches: exact, phrase and broadmatch.

It is a little bit redundant, but it has its reasons.

Anyways, you should carefully read AdWords help, and see what is fit for your campaign. Nobody can give you universal recipes.

Another good advice is keep reading this forum's threads. You will find many that are very useful to you.

You'll hear different philosophies on the subject, but I've found that it makes sense - IF there are dramatic differences in performance per match type.

Google has encouraged me to submit almost exclusively on Broad - the argument being, Phrase/Exact match are more relevant & usually offer a higher CTRs, but Broad match is where most of the traffic is... so, bundling all will utilize the benefits of Phrase/Exact to boost the performance of the bulk - the Broad.

While I buy this in concept, if there are major differences in performance, I can achieve greater results by exploiting Phrase/Exact seperately (allowing for more aggressive bids) while enjoying greater cost savings.
