any way to pivot on call extensions?

I do not work on multiple accounts anymore but lately my feeling is that click-throughs from Google Ads are no longer worth it for my clients, but calls might be.

Obviously if the user is on desktop then the best option is a forwarding number.

But what about mobile & tablet?

I've been trying (and failing) to find a way to look at clicks on Call Extensions and pivot by keyword.

Is there a way to do this or do I need to set up a separate Ad Group per keyword?

P.S. I just paused a client's account whilst I plan the revamp of their campaigns. Got a sales call from a Google telemarketer within 10 minutes. Most efficient :)

I think this will help. In Google Ads you can sort your campaign by keywords then you can go up to the Segment filter and select Click Type. This will allow you to see all the keywords that generated a click to call from your campaigns.

Rndm - thanks! That's done it. And there's other interesting information as a bonus too :)

What's interesting is that Google only provide this deeper data on clicks on mobile phones - NOT on tablets.

My setup is to have two versions of each Ad Group:
(i) one with shorter wordings for mobile;
(ii) the other with longer wordings for tablet / desktop.
and use a -100% bid adjustment to make these device-specific.

Even though there is click data recorded for my phone extension in the tablet / desktop group, when you segment by Click Type, 'Moblie clicks to call' is not there.

FranticFish - You are welcome. Glad it helped. Thanks for sharing your ad group idea and insights. Interesting about the tablet/desktop category.

I tried the phone ad and all the calls came to my phone so I kept the number of calls myself. The calls I was billed wasn't close.
Be sure and have an accurate way of tracking I was very disappointed in this type of ad as I see you are in the other ads.

@ bwnbwn thanks for this insight, I had read that not all CTC are completed but I would have expected there would be a very small drop off so long as ads are correctly scheduled. What sort of ratio / percentage did you experience?

Let me put it this way it was so bad I called my rep and demanded a refund.
I did it for 3 months I was billed about 100 a month cost per call was around 2.00. I kept a log and asked each caller did they call from a number displayed in the search results.
For the 3 months I was overcharged for calls I never got 265.00.
To be a charge Google rep said there had to be a one minute time. I have the feeling 2seconds was their time not 1 minute.
Please let me know how your campaign goes.
