Hi,

Does anyone know after what period of time google chases you for unpaid clicks?

There is no time limit.
Until you don't pay your account is blocked.
Google policy is very bland for this.It consider you as "paused" for the time you wish.

Look at this:

If you are asking for yourself, pay your bill you freeloader. People like you are what makes me have to pay more. You probably get disability, and work getting paid under the table too? Does it make you nervous when doing your taxes? Do you cheat their too? How about bogus insurance claims? Thanks bud you are why we all pay more in life. I feel better now.

The Adwords model does not work like that! Everyone pays over the minimum clickthrough according to competition and max cpc. With the current model they cannot inflate pricing to compensate unpaid bills.

Interesting question-
I wonder how many AdWords clients flake out on Google?
It's really pretty amazing if you think about it, that Google extends advertisers credit in advance for thousands of dollars every month, with no deposits or credit apps required.

sofree, don't use such lame excuses. If people like you don't pay up, indirectly it does affect the rest of the advertisers. If Google did get this money, they might use it for providing better features for us or to make algorithms to better match our words. Even if Google were not to spend the money on features, it would go to their bottom line. A bigger bottom line in turn might spur competitors to enter this field, which again is a good thing for advertisers. At the end of the day, you still haven't given us any reason as to why you want to freeload like this.

Pointing fingers at no one, and speaking purely in general terms here, I'd like to clarify something - since a related thread in which I posted is linked-to here - in a seemingly different context.

In that linked-to thread, I said:

I'd like to confirm specter's post: there's no time limit that I am aware of in this situation.

It is worth nothing that in that post, I was referring to a situations in which one's card had hit it's limit, or was otherwise available for a week, or a month. or more - rather than situations in which someone might want to 'advertiser and run'.

Different scenarios, with very different intent. ;)

It totally inflates the CPC! If you had to pay up you probably wouldn't have bidded for the keywords in the first place! Or at the very least, you would bid less for new keywords.

Sorry, I don't mean to hijack this topic but I have a question to AdWordsAdvisor.

My credit card was billed but I had reached it's monthly limit.
I've talked to my bank and the credit limit was extended so I went back to Google's Billing Preferences and I tried to submit the same card number.
For several times I got the "card declined" info but one time the info went through.
I then waited a day but still got the info on the main page telling that they "were unable to process the last payment".
I phoned Google's hotline and I was told that the account was being checked by a "specialist" and that she (the helpdesk girl) couldn't do much about it other than leave him a message.

A week has passed and I just want Google to try to charge my credit card again and I can't do that, even by phone.
How long will this "specialist" take to check my account?

Any help/comment would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, Jotafk!

I'm really not able to shed any more light on your situation, as it's outside of my realm. I guess my best advice would be to reply to the most recent email that you were sent, or phone again, and express your concerns.

I do hope this gets resolved soon.

I am sorry for being rude... I didn't introduce myself.
My name's Ricardo and I'm from Portugal.

Thank you for the reply AdWordsAdvisor.

I actually called again today and just got an e-mail from support saying the following:

"Thank you for your calls. I understand our system is having difficulty
processing your credit card.

Our AdWords Specialists and engineers have worked to resolve this issue.
Please re-submit your credit card number or enter another credit card
number to process your charge. Your ads will start running as soon as our
system successfully processes your payment within the next 24 hours"

I resubmited the same Credit Card number and it was accepted, so my ads should be running again soon :)

Cheers!

If people like you don't pay up, indirectly it does affect the rest of the advertisers.

How do you figure?

More than likely it affects the AdSense publishers that suddenly have their accounts adjusted down to eliminate those unpaid clicks.

I'm glad Ricardo's problem worked out. Still, it shouldn't take more than 2 hours, not an entire week for such an issue! Google still has to work at this subject!

Regarding the other problem (people who intentionally don't pay), this could affect at least people bidding on the same KWs (as blaze suggested), because "fraudsters" can bid higher and thus inflate CPC. Fortunately not for long (I hope)!
I'm talking here about people who ON PURPOSE don't pay, not those who accidentally exceed their credit card limit.
