Why can't we get the publishers' domains?

Google should tell us.

I have content match turned off, but still get a lot of visits from AdSense sites using the search function. (Can't opt out of these without opting out of AOL.) In the logs I can sometimes see the name of the site from which this visit came to my site.

Other times I only see a publisher number. If I were able to figure out where these visits were coming from, I would better be able to track down obvious fraud. And Google AdWords relies on me to police my account, since they have no interest in doing it themselves.

I agree but....

If we were able to see where many of these visits were coming from, we'd all go running.

I belong to one affiliate program that provides extremely detailed referrer logs. I'm not on content, only in Google and search and some of these sites appear to be nothing but sites designed to attract high value AdSense ads.

No legitimate surfer would spend any time on them. My suspicion is they are designed to facilitate the activities of clicker armies. In fact, that's darn well what they are for!

-------

Why do I stay? Well somehow I still make money even if I have to "give" some of it away. Someone else suggested earlier that if there were 3 or 4 PPCs that could really compete with Google, things might be a little different.

We're sort of the high-tech version of street vendors. For centuries, kids have made a sport of trying to pilfer something from our carts, but we come back every day anyway. Now it's click fraud, stealware and impression spamming instead of fleet footed delinquents.

I'm not saying it's right and that we shouldn't speak up loud and clear, but bottom line, it is the way it is

Sadly,

Depending on how your logs are set up, you should be able to see every single AdSense referrer in your logs. I am able to see all the AdSense site referers in my logs that came through my Adwords.
