Disabling AdWords content ads during news story cycle

Should I?

I happen to have a nice AdWords spot on a consumer electronics product. This product happened to be updated recently, leading to numerous news stories on the product. Since the news stories mention the product, I'm beginning to feature prominently with these stories (in AdSense).

The product happens to be a popular one (thus the news stories), so there should be broad interest in the product, but I'm wondering if I should disable AdSense ads until the news story runs its course.

Anyone have any experience and/or advice?

That depends, is the increased traffic converting at a rate where you are still making money?

If not, dropping content for a while might be warranted.

Unfortunately, I can't determine how well the traffic converts until tomorrow morning.

I'll certainly keep an eye on it though.

If you have your daily budget set higher than you are really willing to spend to ensure that your ad shows all the time you may want to dial it back until you know the conversions.

Unfortunately, the conversions weren't quite as high as the cost.

I'm going to keep the search advertising up, but I've taken the content ads down.
