adwords premium listings

How do I get my ad in the preium area?

I've been paying Google for 4 months now and regularly appear in the top 5 on the right hand side, for approx £2.00 per click .. but they don't seem forthcoming on how I elevate myself to the 'premium', blue background top-of-page listings (like my competitors).

Does anybody know the process .. and is it worth while trying?

It's based on CPC and CTR.

The exact formula is not released by Google. However, the main issue to look at for your ads 'going north' is CTR.

You need to measure your results in the various positions to see if it's worthwhile for your products. Some people really like these positions, while others find that it generates too many 'just looking' clicks.
