Question about AdWords ranking

Hi, ive been learning so much recently from your great forum and i finally took the leap from being just another lurker to signing up!

This question is about how you get your adwords ad onto the top bit of the SERPs (the coloured banner, not the ride hand side)

Is it todo with click through rate and maximum bid? anyone?

This is often refered to as the 'premium position'.

It's based on CPC and CTR. The exact formula is not released by Google. However, the main issue to look at for your ads 'going north' is CTR.
