Adwords Redirect?

Do they allow it?

Hey, this may be a silly question, but does Adwords allow you to have a landing page that is a redirect? I was under the assumption that you could not do this? I've seen a competitor of one of my client's using a redirect. What's up?

As far as I'm aware this isn't allowed.

However, since ads are reviewed manually, it's more than likely that the reviewers haven't looked at this ad yet, hence it's still showing.

An increasing problem since the new affiliate guidelines came into being, presumably because they're having to review a lot more ads now.

If the reason for the redirect is a tracking URL or a site issue than a redirect is allowed under the following conditions:

1. The display URL matches where the visior will end up after the redirects.
2. The redirect does not break the back button.

eWhisper, the display URL and the actual URL are not even close to where I eventually end up if I click their ad. I guess if its not allowed, Google will eventually see it. Thanks everyone.

My recent experience has been if the display URL and destination URL are "close", they'll let you by. A good way to test if your ad has been approved is to go to a partner site and see if you can find your ad (assuming you're in the Search Network).

I recently had ads approved that do a META redirect to
widgets.com

from
www.notwidgets.com/widgets.html

and my display URL and destination URL both read
www.notwidgets.com/widgets.html

But doesn't a META redirect break back-button functionality? That would be against the rules for sure.

I just tested the Meta Redirect. It still allows the back button functionality to work properly.
