Google SERP with Adsense

Lost Rank

We have a new website (posted a few months ago). We have been subscribing to Google Adsense since the beginning.

Our ads always show up for the keywords but Google will not index our site. We had a top ranking for about two days, dropped down a few pegs and as of yesterday, no ranking at all. Nothing has changed on the site.

Why will Google allow you to advertise but won't even index or crawl your site? I have had no apparent visits by googlebot (that I can see) for the past two months.

Wouldn't you think that because we are a "paying customer" that we would be able to be listed in the regular search (or am I being a complete dumb-dumb)?

Anyone have a similar experience?

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, ecommercials!

I'd like to address your question, but since I see you are new to the Forum today, I should probably introduce myself as Google employee - having been with AdWords for the past 2 plus years.

OK, back to the answer to your questions:

Google strongly feels that AdWords should in no way influence the Search results, and vice-versa. So, the two things are kept 100% separate, very much by design. One does not influence the other, in any way.

To put it another way, being an AdWords advertiser has no influence at all on your ability to appear in the search results, in either a positive or a negative way.

So it won't help, and neither will it hurt.

I hope the mods won't mind my posting the link to a page of information on the G site, which will offer you all available information on the subject of having your site listed in the unpaid search results. Mods: If inappropriate, please feel free to edit.. Anyway, the link is:
