Where are some of the places I can put my remarketing code?

1) my site
2) email newsletter
3) Yellow pages type directories in my niche
4) search blog posts in my niche, offer blogger $ to add code just to those blog posts.
5) any site that comes up in the serps that doesn't do retail, offer them $.

Any place else? Where else are people looking for buy information?

Hey, can I put the code in a wikipedia page?

Ha, just kidding.

But seriously, can I?

Just so I understand this topic:

you are thinking of putting google adwords remarketing code on someone's blog as opposed to just having a regular advertisement (like an affiliate link to your site). Is that correct?

Can I ask if there is a benefit to using remarketing instead of just banner ad or some other ad?

Or am I misunderstanding this?

the remarketing tag allows him to target them with his own ppc, in many ways. the remartketing code just tags the visitor (who hits a page with the code) so they can be remarketed to with G display ppc.

As per rhino.

The advantage to me is that probably 2/3 of our potential customers have a 90 day buy cycle. They research, then buy in 90 days. If I can grab tag them at the research stage anywhere and then advertise in 90 days, I'll be advertsing to people ready to buy.

And I don't care if they're doing that initial research on my site :).

Ok, just so I understand:

The benefit of doing a remarketing tag instead of just buying a banner ad on the site is that you are able to pay only for the clicks (instead of all the impressions), and that the ad only shows to people who have been "pre-qualified" by either going to your site previously, or by going to other competitor sites previously.

Is that right? Or am I barking up the wrong tree?

"buying a banner ad on the site" = putting your ad up on a static roadside billboard for everyone driving by to see.

"remarketing tag" = an electronic dynamic billboard where i only want to show my ad to people driving by who have visited my store recently.

they came to your store, you put a sticker on their car, the billboard "sees" that sticker, and displays your ad.

either can be CPC or CPM based, it's the targeting that is different.

"by going to other competitor sites previously" - nope, you must tag the person with your code, you can't target them based on your competitors remarketing tags. (outside of remarketing, you can use interest-audience and topics to loosely target competing sites, but not like you asserted, not by specific sites or by competitor name.)
