Does anyone recognize this IP 66.249.85.65?
When I try to do a reverse look up it shows nothing... It looks like a google IP due to the 66.249 series.. I think they own all of that series..
The reason I ask, is that my adwords landing page is being bombed by this ip 10 to 15 times a minute then stops for 30 min and starts up again.. The reason I know, is that each time that landing page is hit its sends me an email including the IP of the visitor.. if its google they are not using the google agent.. its is being faked as a browser.. looks like this..

Landing page= [mydomain.com...]
Visiting IP = 66.249.85.65
Page Visited = somecity-foreclosures.php?track=adwords

User Agent = Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1)

They (whoever) they are is driving me crazy.. plus working the hell out of my email... the occasional normal visitor comes thru and my ads are being shown front and center on every search...
No warnings in my adwords account... but this is ridiculous..
I would block it with htaccess, but afraid to since it looks like a google IP that is faking the user agent..

Does anyone know any other way to find out if this is a real google IP and why would they do this.. its uncalled for.. wasting the hell out of bandwidth and google does not usualy do this crap...

IF its still going on Monday I will call them...
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

Also unlikely that some one is just screwing around as the landing page is unknown except to the google adwords ad.. and it was not even a page until a few hours ago... and how did someone get an ip so close to a google ip if that is true.... just makes no sense..
And if I was doing something wrong google would shut me down in a nanominute... and they are serving me right at the number one slot on every search... and occasionally i am getting clicks....does not appear the freaking IP is clicking my ads, as when a real visitor comes in it includes a google gclid number.. so apparently the ip is just hitting my landing page without clicking my google ad....

Wow I just counted the emails.. 40 per minute for 3 min... now its been 40 min since the last one... and then they start again.. crazy stuff....
If not for the IP I would know someone is aggravating me since I just moved into their adword world... but that is dumb as they should know I will track them down....

It's possible to fake the IP address of a request. The sender won't receive the response, but if their only purpose was to send the request, they won't care. Your server would send the response to whatever IP it was given, in this case the Google IP.

Whether or not the requests are actually coming from Google, your server is sending its responses to them, so this is probably worth following up.

A Google employee browsing the web from work can also come from a Google-range IP that isn't a bot/crawler, but I don't think someone from AdWords, even doing tests or experiments, would pull something like this.

Well it seems to have stopped for now.. Also about every 10 min the adbot 74. series was checking me out. The intensive rapid testing could be that they thought I was up to something.. since I was doing the following:
Display URL: MyDomain.com/Foreclosures
Landing URL: [mydomain2.com...]
Forwarded to:http://search.mydomain.com/apagefullofforeclosures.php

Its possible they kept checking the landing page approximately 500 times last night just to make sure I was not tricking them.. all seems well this AM as they are sending customers on a regular basis..

Thanks for the suggestions..
Still would like to know if anyone has seen this... I think i will ask google about this... its very server intensive and it sure looks like one of theirs gone wild...
I will get a chance to talk to them, as I took them up on their offer to do a basic set up to get me started and they set me up a site a campaign.. and wow... after a week Zero conversions and a CTR of .27 One of my campaigns right beside it is doing 12% conversion and 9.7% clickthru... boy there free help is not worth a darn..
But that will give me a chance to call direct and ask about this ridiculous attack on me.... since you can call for the first 6 weeks after they set you up. I can see how the free setup would be great for someone who knows absolutley nothing.. Recommend anyone trying it if totally lost... I am an experienced adwords guy, but just wanted to see what the free setup is all about..

Actually I doubt anyone would know if they are doing this, since you probably don't get an email each time someone hits the landing page of your adwords account.. I could stop it by not sending the email unless the GCLID number is attached and it was not attached to any of the hits last night.. so I knew they were not hitting the AD, just the landing page.... and its the intermediate landing page not the final landing page... course they are redirected to the final landing page but they do not hit that one direct...
Wow! since they are hitting as a browser that will really skew the pages viewed for my customer... better let them know... as they will have twice as many pages viewed as they ever had in a week.
