If my AdWords and Google Analytics accounts are linked...
Do I still need to set up the Conversions feature in AdWords?

Looks like I was reading old Google data online (imagine that!). I found more recent stuff that indicates that Google Analytics conversion data is now importable into AdWords interface so one doesn't have to set up both GA and the AdWords Conversion functionality.
If I'm reading that wrong, please tell me1

I prefer both - I find I get better granularity of data. One can literally answer the question "what was cost of conversion" easily and succinctly by numerous dimensions if you are tracking it correctly in Adwords. (eg with Adwords conversion tracking code placed on the TY page). I've not see the link to Analytics allow the same as yet.

I completely agree with chewy.
Linking GA with AdWords can be flaky at best, and at worst - the goals are never imported.
Another problem is that GA and Adwords conversion tracker have different rules for counting a conversion.
AdWords attributes a conversion to the last keyword/ad copy/placement/remarketing/etc ad that was clicked if the user converts within 30 days.
GA counts a conversion as last entrance to website.
So, if someone clicks on your ad today and tomorrow they come back to your site directly and convert; GA reports that a direct traffic source received a goal. AdWords says that the last ad copy/keyword/etc that got the click gets the conversion.
Because of these different rules - I prefer to use them both.
