I have a large group of adgroups running targeted to North America.

In the past, I have been easily able to copy these adgroups to other existing campaigns that are geotargeted to specific non-American regions.

Today when I try to copy these, AEditor says I can't do it because these adgroups have the same name as another adgroup in the campaign.

this is plainly not true.

I can do this into an empty campaign and it says I can't because there is already an adgroup there by that name. Absurd!

I can see a workaround to rename each adgroup but I didn't have to do that before.

Pls - is there something that I'm not understanding here?

Go up in your console and take a look at all ad groups in that campaign and enable the deleted ones, and see if you see them there. It's a stupid bug as far as I'm concerned, but there's nothing to do but working around it. Every time I delete a campaign or ad group now, I rename it with a ZZ- or some such in front of it, so I can use the name again if I have to.

adding a z- or zz- is exactly what i've been doing!

another habit i've gotten into is when i delete a campaign, i completely gut it first - including adgroups, negs, audiences, ads, keywords, exclusions, placements - all of it.

tidy.

the nuclear navy beat attention to detail into my character.
