How close are these estimated amounts and click positions?
Do you change your amounts to a higher cost per click on your heavier traffic days?
Newbie! Any info will help. Thanks......
Also, Google allows you to specify a daily budget, which can keep you from getting into too much trouble at the start of a campaign.
I am thinking about trying Google Adwords but scared of what it might end up costing but at the same time need the Google exposure.
Ignore the 1.65, go with what you can afford and see how far you get.
I'd agree with this, Porkchop. The suggested bids are in fact intended to put you near the top of the first page, as pointed out by beren. However, this is merely a suggestion. I think it'd be best to simply decide what you feel comfortable with as a maximum CPC, let the ads run for a day and see where you are - then make adjustments if need be.
Also, with a some thought and experimentation, you may be able to find keywords that work well for you, and which are less competitive (and therefore less expensive).

Exactly - just set your daily budget at a comfortable level as you experiment. Do be aware that if you set your daily budget to an amount less than that which the system recommends during the ad creation process, then your ad will likely not show all of the time. This is expected behavior, and not a cause for concern.
BTW, it is worth remembering that:
* Daily budget directly affects how often your ads appear, while
* Maximum CPC directly affects in which position your ad appears.
For your best shot at early success, I'd recommend reading as much about the program as you can before you jump in. Some excellent resources are:

* Optimization Tips: [adwords.google.com...]
* The Demos and Guides page: [adwords.google.com...]

I hope things work out well for you, Porkchop, should you decide to give it a try!

Also don't be scared by the estimated cost, I tend to just ignore it... It could say something crazy like $1.50, yet a 10 cent bid could still easily put you in position 6,7,8 which could be very good value.
I am playing around with my keywords and spending amount.
Under the clicks/day some of the keywords are showing 0.9, 0.2, <0.1 Does this mean these words normally don't even get one click? That seems hard to believe because they are popular search terms for this keyword.
The 0.9 word is showing a position of 3.0 and the <0.1 is showing 6.4 position.
Can you shed some light on this?

That's exactly what it means. Forecasts can, however, be different to reality so you need to try it out.
All I really want to know at this point is how much it will cost for various keywords/phrases for some clients, but I have no idea what to tell them.
Actually I've tried to register but each time I do (by clicking on "save and continue") I get redirected back to the 1st page. I just can't seem to even sign up.All I really want to know at this point is how much it will cost for various keywords/phrases for some clients, but I have no idea what to tell them.
Ordinarily you should be able to use the 'Sign Up Now' wizard at www.adwords.google.com to reach the Traffic Estimator tool, and get CPC estimates without creating an actual account. It is important to go through the account creation steps, however, as the pricing is highly dependent on factors such as country and language targeting, which are the initial steps you are taken through.
If you're getting redirected back to the 1st page early in this process, it sounds as if you may have some browser related issues - perhaps relating to security settings, cookies, etc. You may want to try another browser, or if you have a really old version of your preferred browser try updating that.
If you are simply not able to get through the sign up process as far as the Traffic Estimator, after having tried the above, please consider writing to adwords-support@google.com with this info:
* What operating system are you using?
* What browser version are you using? (exact version please)
* When, exactly, are you encountering difficulties? Are you receiving any specific error messages?
* What is the URL of the page that you are trying to access, if known?
* How often does this occur? Is this your first time encountering this problem or has it been a consistent issue?
Best of luck! ;)

Can someone take a look at message 14?
To follow up on one of my questions....if it is showing the click as below 1 and it has 0 for daily cost...I would be nuts to not choose this phrase because I know it has been used (according to my site stats). And if it is giving me a average position of 1.0 I've got to go for it. Right?
Porkchop, I guess I'd just advise trying the keyword and seeing how it performs for you in 'the real world'. The Traffic Estimator is designed to give you an estimate that is reflective of the situation in the moment you check: in other words to give you information to base a decision on.
Then, once you've used the keyword, it's really important to monitor and see what actually happens as the competitive landscape evolves.
BTW, I'd advise at least starting with keywords that are really well targeted to what you're actually offering. Often, extremely targeted keywords will cost you less per click, and in my opinion, they also help to bring you a pre-qualified customer - which is one factor that may help you to have a positive Return On Investment (ROI). And a lot of folks on this Forum will tell you that ROI is what it's all about.
