I have not been having a good time with the new keyword tool over the last 3-4 days. They data seems to be at times, years out of date and the refinement options are frequently not available. Local search traffic levels are missing.
For example, the latest version of a widget is version 6. I want version 6 key phrases with volume. I can only get version 4 phrases and volumes. This data is from 2 years ago!
Also, on the LHS, below categories, I usually see an option to select only keyphrases that contain certain terms, so that I can filter out noise. This UI can be gone for an entire day, then wink in for a few hours, then gone again.
Also, the long tail keywords are way sparse, with obvious higher volume long tail phrases being left out. All I get is the super high volume generic widget phrases, which, from an e-commerce perspective, are useless unless you want to drain your PPC budget.
Is the keyword tool broken, or is the index it operates on being re-built? I would like to suggest that a couple day old keyword index is much better than a sparse keyword index.
